SEKGALO obtained his BCom degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2002, Postgraduate Diploma in Investigative and Forensic Accounting from the University of Pretoria in 2007 and LLB degree from the University of South Africa in 2021. He became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 2015 and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners internationally and locally. He further became a full member of the Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners in 2018. He completed his Practical Legal Training at the University of South Africa’s School for Legal Practice in 2022.
Sekgalo started his career as an Equities Researcher before moving to Ernst & Young where he worked in the Fraud Investigations and Dispute Service and in the Performance Improvement services lines from 2007 to 2012.
In June 2012, Sekgalo joined Transnet Freight Rail, an operating division of Transnet SOC Ltd as an Assistant Manager in the Fraud Risk Management department and was involved in conducting fraud prevention and detective audits and investigations.
In October 2019 he was promoted to Senior Manager: Fraud Investigations where he was responsible for managing all investigations conducted in the operating division.
He also was instrumental in the formulation of the operating division’s fraud risk management strategy from 2012.
Sekgalo underwent his Practical Vocational Training at a MNS Attorneys in Johannesburg from January 2022 to April 2023. He joined MBA in the role of
Executive: Forensic Investigations and Fraud Risk Advisory from May 2023.
Awards
Sekgalo formed part of a team that won the Eagle Award (Best of the Best) for Risk Excellence at the 2017 Chief Executive Excellence Awards at Transnet Freight Rail.
