SAMANTHA is an esteemed Executive Consultant with 13 years of post-admission experience. She has carved an illustrious career path with a rich blend of experience across a diverse range of practice areas and sectors.

Professional Journey:

Samantha was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in February 2011 after completing her articles of clerkship with Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr. She then honed her skills as a Professional Assistant at a niche corporate and commercial law firm. Following that, she joined DM5 Incorporated, where she played a pivotal role in growing the commercial department and made notable contributions to competition law filings. In 2014, she joined Bembridge Minnaar Attorneys as a Senior Associate and later moved to Poswa Incorporated, where she was a key player in the Sasol Khanyisa transaction. Samantha's expertise expanded further when she joined the PwC Tax, Legal, and Mergers and Acquisitions team as a Senior Manager in July 2019. In November 2022, she joined MBA Incorporated as an Associate Partner in the corporate and commercial team and later transitioned to an Executive Consultant in June 2023.

Some of the transactions she has been involved in include:

  • Advising the Public Investment Corporation and a BEE equity partner with their joint acquisition of the South African Home Loans business (Legal due diligence component).
  • Advising the Public Investment Corporation (acting on behalf of the Government Employees Pension Fund) with regards to a R4.5 billion facilitation arrangement in favor of a BEE Company for purposes of acquiring listed blue-chip shares in Growthpoint
  • Providing competition law advice to the Industrial Development Corporation with a start-up project they considered funding.
  • Advising a black consortium with their potential acquisition of a 22.91% share in ArcelorMittal, which advisory included the preparation and submission of the indicative offer.
  • Played a crucial role in the Sasol Khanyisa 10-year broad-based black economic empowerment transaction.
  • Advising the Transnet National Ports Authority with regard to its new 25-year concession agreement and tender process as regards Maydon Wharf in the Port of Durban.
