REFILWE is an experienced attorney with a strong academic background, particularly distinguished by her expertise in legal research.
Professional Journey:
Refilwe commenced her legal journey when she joined a boutique law firm in Sandton specialising in Commercial Law, where she served as a Candidate Attorney. In 2018, she was presented with an opportunity to join the Constitutional Court of South Africa as a Legal Researcher. Following the conclusion of her contract at the Court, she completed her articles at the Legal Resources Centre, where she gained valuable experience in various facets of human rights law. After her admission as an Attorney of the High Court in 2020, she worked as a Legal Researcher at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, Corruption and Fraud in the Public Sector including Organs of State. There, she was an integral part of the research team that worked directly with former Chief Justice Zondo.
In 2022, Refilwe worked on a short-term contract at the South African Human Rights Commission as a Senior Legal Consultant. From 2023 until October 2024, Refilwe worked as a Legal Researcher at Corruption Watch, which is a non-profit organisation and accredited chapter for Transparency International, that seeks to stop corruption and promote transparency, accountability and integrity across all sectors of society. During her tenure, she contributed to written and oral submissions before the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development and had the privilege of attending the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Conference, the world’s largest independent forum focused on the global fight against corruption.
Refilwe joined MBA Incorporated in October 2024 as an Associate in the Litigation and Regulatory Department.
