Professional Journey: 

Since his admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2011, Johan has spent the time honing his skills as a litigator and employment law expert through working with various different stakeholders across various jurisdictions within Africa and South Africa.

Prior to joining MBA Incorporated, Johan has been employed with a number of reputable law firms where he always focused on employment law and litigation. This has enabled Johan to consistently appear in Labour Law forums across the country for a variety of clients spanning across all sectors. Johan has also travelled to Nigeria, Swaziland and Botswana where he has advised clients on issues relating to employment law in those jurisdictions.

Johan has consistently excelled in every position he had occupied through the years to become one of the leading employment law attorneys in South Africa with a number of reported and reported Labour Court judgments under his name. Johan joined MBA incorporated as a Partner in the Employment Law department  in May 2024

Experience Highlights:

Johan’s extensive post-admission experience spans a wide range of practice areas, including but not limited to:

  • Acted on behalf of the employer in the widely discussed and reported on matter of Prabashnie Naicker vs Africa Flight Services (JR 843/17 dated 21 May 2019) which judgment was widely discussed in a number of articles and legal commentary including discussion on the annual SASLAW seminar in 2019.
  • Acted on behalf of the employer in the reported judgment of National Union of Metalworkers of SA & Others v Natal Stainless Steel (Pty) Ltd (2019) 40 ILJ 2598 (LC).
  • Advised clients in different jurisdictions of law including Botswana, Nigeria and Swaziland.
